Gallery Manager

This is a paid position and is currently filled.  The Gallery Manager serves on the SAAG Board of Directors.

Below is a list of tasks for this position.

  • Oversee the SAAG Gallery Management Team (SGMT)

  • Report directly to the Executive Board of Directors and President on a regular basis

  • Represent the SGMT in Board meetings by presenting the status of each Gallery Committee

  • Work with Center Management to uphold lease

  • Work with the SGMT to ensure each Manager and Coordinator has trained a member as a backup

  • Update/maintain Cashier Book of Instructions

  • Update/maintain Customer Relations processes and procedures

  • Train all staff on best practices for sales

  • Schedule and conduct quarterly forum meetings and New Artist Orientations

  • Coordinate with the SGMT to create unified material for trainings

  • Provide the Newsletter Coordinator with upcoming training session information and/or other Gallery information

  • Work with the Merchandising Manager and the Merchandising Committee by assisting wherever needed

  • Create and maintain New Artist Welcome Packet, both paper and electronic, and incorporate updated procedures from the Executive Board, Board of Directors, Coordinators, Managers, and/or the SGMT as needed  

  • Provide artists with feedback on performance of shift duties including, but not limited to, clerical errors, cleaning the gallery, conversations with customers, and conversations among artists

  • Maintain security protocol for the Gallery

  • Work with POS & Inventory Manager to maintain codes and resolve POS and/or artists’ point of sale issues      

  • Utilize POS reporting to spot training trends 

  • Work with Shift Calendar Manager to discuss Gallery staffing

  • Assist with conflict resolution 

  • Refer artists’ inquiries to the appropriate manager

  • Manage Pass On Book

  • Manage Suggestion Box and discuss with the SGMT 

  • Handle any customer issues e.g., returns that cannot be resolved by the cashier
