Solo Show Guidelines
Congratulations on choosing to have a Solo Show! Whether a new artist or a pro, a solo show is a great opportunity to review your body of work while developing a cohesive presentation. You get to choose which pieces you display, how many pieces, and the arrangement. Depending on availability, you can choose your show dates and may wish to extend the timeframe on a prorated basis. The fee is a flat rate- any number of your pieces may be displayed – you choose which and how many pieces.
Please:
- Pay for your solo space as soon as possible after coordinating your dates with the Exhibition Coordinator Lisa Suarez. Spaces are not reserved until paid for.
- Make yourself familiar with your space and the hanging systems you will be using. Do not add nails or hooks to any walls.
Art Installation: On the first date of your solo space rental
Art Removal: On the last date of your solo space rental.
You may wish to coordinate with artists displaying before and after your show. Some artists team up and install/remove on the same day.
Hanging Requirements: The hanging system at Overlook requires all pieces to have wire hanging for security purposes. No alligator hooks.
Labeling:
- All art must be labeled on the back with Title, Artist’s name and phone number; other information is optional.
- You are responsible for wall labels for all your work. Include the following info: Title, Your Name, Price, Phone number and Email address. Additional info such as size, QR code, etc., is optional.
- You may create labels similar to the overlook show or use your own design.
- Please use easily removable museum putty (preferably white/grey) for attaching labels to walls.
Sales: There is no commission on the sale of your art at your solo show.
Publicity: Please provide at least three work samples, a bio and press release to Theresa Paolucci for our SAAG newsletter. You may wish to invite people to an “opening.”
Note: If your show overlaps a SAAG show reception at the Overlook Restaurant, you’re invited to give a short presentation during the reception (5 minutes or so).
