Merchandising Manager

This is a paid position and is currently filled.

Below is a list of tasks for this position.

  • Collaborate with SGMT members

  • Create a cohesive flow to the Gallery utilizing the Gallery Floor Model

  • Ensure every space in the Gallery is optimized 

  • Create monthly window displays utilizing the Gallery artists’ work

  • Determine various ways to display different types of artwork

  • Train the Merchandising Committee on the display plan and how to replenish sold items 

  • Determine how to efficiently utilize the floor space for holiday displays, such as Christmas trees and specially priced items

  • Receive new artwork submittals via emails and texts and jury the submittals for the replacement of sold art

  • Replenish displays as items sell 

  • Ensure proper level of artwork and props are maintained, displayed, and rotated correctly

  • Perform duties such as moving and cleaning shelves, installing new racks and shelves, hanging paintings and wall art, and climbing ladders

  • Review all Gallery Space Applications 

  • Provide the Gallery artist’s contact information to all the SGMT members at the start of each session

  • Create a team that will help jury the work of new artists

  • Familiarize yourself with each artist and their style of artwork

  • Create and maintain an artist’s biography book

  • Monitor weekly sales

  • Work with artists who aren’t selling to readjust their prices or modify their displays

  • Work with the Events Coordinator to plan for various Gallery events, such as La Encantada Shopping Center events, live music, demos by artists, and featured artists

  • Coordinate with the Supply Coordinator and Bookkeeper to keep Gallery stocked with essential supplies

  • Have Gallery Manager approve weekly timesheets

  • Provide a written status to the Gallery Manager each month prior to the monthly Board meeting

  • Actively recruit new artists for the Guild and Gallery of all ages and walks of life

  • Report to the Gallery Manager
