Enameled Copper Bird with Fused Glass Design
Artist Statement:
A childhood in Chile connected me to the existence of copper, a mineral considered to be the country's most important economic resource. It is a metal that has a multitude of emotional, historical, and personal resonances. Copper has provided a form of continuity, an unexpected theme that serves as a personal connection to Arizona, where I have resided for most of my adult life The exploration of fusible glass as a medium to create beauty that is both fragile and durable provides a powerful counterbalance to the properties of copper. The fragility, strength, brightness, depth, clarity, opacity that comes about as I combine copper and glass in unique 2D and 3D pieces is a satisfying and challenging journey that I hope to continue for some time.
