Artist Statement
Nature is my primary focus and motivation for a painting. I paint in watercolors & oils en plein air & do translate some of my plein air work into larger studio paintings I first painted and exhibited my marine work in Newport, RI. Moving west. In 1990 I appeared on Good Morning America, painting the sailboats involved in the first "Around the World Alone Race." Moving West to Durango, Colorado I painted mostly mountain scenes, then to Tucson, I now spend time painting in the Sonoran Deserts of Arizona and Mexico. I enjoy designing landscape & seascape paintings directly from nature, I am especially excited by the beauty of the mountain and desert formations, and the patterns of the shoreline & surf. The flora and fauna of our area provide me with exceptional material for my paintings.
